In Memoriam

NAIFA is nothing without its members. Our organization has benefited from the support of countless volunteer participants over our 125+ year history. This page is to honor the memory and contributions of some of these exceptional individuals.

Loren "Lon" Crosby Davidson
 (October 5, 1941 - January 14, 2017)
This past weekend we lost an icon of our local industry and a great friend and supporter of NAIFA. Loren Crosby Davidson, 75, was surrounded by his family when he passed away peacefully at his home in Edmonds on Saturday, January 14, 2017. Lon served as President of NAIFA Seattle/Eastside in the early 1990's. It is because of Lon that our local association has benefited from the use of the Seattle Yacht Club as the location of many events and countless board meetings. On multiple occasions Lon expressed his gratitude for the service of his successors on the local board of directors by treating them to an afternoon with him doing his favorite activity, sailing. Lon is survived by his wife Nancy (of nearly 47 years); three daughters, Jenny (R.J.), Katie (Brian), and Lauren (Jake); his four grandchildren, Oscar, Jimmy, Nash, and Ella; and many cherished family members and friends. He will be greatly missed by

Lon's full obituary can be found here. A celebration of Lon’s life will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, January 27, 2017, at the Ballard Bay Club (6413 Seaview Avenue NW, Seattle, 98107). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center (1100 Fairview Ave N, Seattle, WA 98109, www.fredhutch.org, 206-667-4399).

David Leslie Knode
(January 24, 1952 - October 21, 2011)
It is with a heavy heart that we share with you the passing of one of our own. David Knode passed away on Friday after a bout with pneumonia having stopped chemotherapy in August. According to David's brother, David's wife "Keiko was always by his side, comforting, encouraging and supporting him. David's strength, courage, and perseverance never wavered." David is a past president of NAIFA Seattle/Eastside and was a fixture at many of our events over his 12 years of membership.  He is survived by his loving wife Keiko, daughter Sayoko, son Anthony, sister Sharon, and many other family members and friends. He will be dearly missed.

Plans are being made for a Celebration of Life to be held at 2:00pm, November 12 at Grace Lutheran Church in Bellevue and later in MN where Dave's ashes will be placed in the LeRoy Lutheran Cemetery.  You can read his obituary here.  Additional photos of David and his family are available here.
