Rajiv Nagaich, JD, LLM
Elder Law Attorney & Radio Host
Johnson and Nagaich, PS

Since taking my oath as a Washington attorney in November 2002, I have dedicated my time and efforts to establish a highly specialized elder law and care management company. This decision did not come about by chance or coincidence; rather, it was a deliberate decision I made before even going to law school. After all, who could better empathize with those who seek help caring for a loved one than a man who has walked the walk of caring for aged and incapacitated family members?  Read Rajiv's story here.

"Life Planning - How Traditional Planning Fails Retirees"
Approved for One (1) Hour of WAOIC Continuing Education (CE) Credit under Course # 608684

We are living longer and our estate tax exemptions are going up. All good news? No! As estate tax exemptions continue to increase, the threat facing estates of most retirees is not estate taxes-it is uncovered long-term care and medical costs, stemming from longer life spans we are experiencing, which threaten to bankrupt many estates. Medicare and health insurance do not cover such long-term care costs, placing estates at significant risk of having to spend down their estates before qualifying for benefits under the government program. Understanding these rules can help individuals plan and protect these assets from the Long Term Care costs. This presentation covers how people need to plan differently today in order to: (i) protect their assets; (ii) plan for a better housing solution; and (iii) not become a burden on their family and loved ones. Most importantly how coordination of healthcare, housing, financial and legal solutions can secure better and efficient retirement for all of us.

Bob Ernst
Director of Rowing, University of Washington
There are few coaches in collegiate athletics whose accomplishments mirror those of Bob Ernst's. Now in his 38th year at Washington, the long-time crew coach and rowing director has served as the face of the Husky crew program for decades. Along the way, Ernst has guided teams to eight National Championships, one Olympic gold medal and numerous wins both domestically and abroad. Ernst has also developed & guided hundreds of rowers to the elite levels of their sport. His Husky teams have competed around the globe, racing in exotic locales such as Egypt, New Zealand, Russia and England.

Ernst arrived in Seattle in the fall of 1974 after a short coaching stint as his alma mater - UC Irvine. The UCI crew had nearly upset the heavily favored Huskies the year before, and current men's coach Dick Erickson wasted little time offering Ernst a job as the UW freshmen coach. It was a position Ernst maintained until the spring of 1980, when he took over as the women's head coach. From this point Ernst cemented his legacy as one of the best coaches in the sport of rowing. His women's teams won six National Championships, the last in 1987 when the Huskies swept the varsity eight, junior varsity eight and varsity four races.  Read more of Bob's bio here.

As an RVP, one of the most common reasons I hear for lack of Life Insurance production is “I work with retired people” or “I’m in the senior market”. I submit that advisors that work in this growing market, should be the TOP life insurance producers in the business if you just know what to look for.   While young families need the protection that life insurance offers, and business owners need life insurance for succession or executive benefits planning, the most diverse set of life insurance needs comes from those 55 and older! This presentation will provide some ideas you may have known about, but just not incorporated into your planning.
