Yoram Bauman, Ph.D
The World's First and Only Stand-Up Economist

Yoram Bauman performs at comedy clubs, colleges, and corporate events around the world as “the world’s first and only stand-up economist”. Yoram is the co-author of The Cartoon Introduction to Economics and the organizer of the humor session at the American Economic Association annual meeting. He has appeared in TIME Magazine, on PBS and NPR, and on YouTube, where his videos have over 800,000 hits.

Yoram lives in Seattle and appears regularly at the Comedy Underground as part of a political comedy benefit show called Non-Profit Comedy that has raised over $75,000 for local non-profits. He has a BA in mathematics from Reed College, a PhD in economics from the University of Washington, and spends his non-comedy hours teaching in the UW environmental studies program, researching the economics of climate change, and campaigning for environmental tax reform.

Riley "R.J." Kelly, CLU, ChFC, MSFS, IAR
President & CEO, Wealth Legacy Group, Inc.

R.J. is Founder and Managing Principal of the Wealth Legacy Family of Companies headquartered in San Diego, California. Wealth Legacy Group specializes in assisting wealthy, affluent and influential closely held business families with the growth, management, protection, distribution and stewardship of their wealth, their business succession and exit strategies and their “whole life planning.”  A graduate from Washington State University, R. J. began in the financial services industry in August 1977 in Spokane, WA, relocating to San Diego in November 1985. He is a CLU and ChFC; Series 7 licensed, a Registered Principal with the NASD, has a Masters of Science in Financial Services with an emphasis in taxation, and is a RIA. R.J. has been ad hoc faculty in various university, college and institutional settings in advanced estate, business and philanthropic planning concepts.

Cindy Eisenhower, CLTC
National Training Director, John Hancock Life Insurance Company

Prior to joining John Hancock as the National Training Director for LTC, Cindy previously represented MetLife and New York Life in similar capacities.  Her career began with New York Life in 1995 as an agent.  During her first year with New York Life, she achieved recognition as one of the top 5 LTC producers in the country.  Her success led to an offer from the company to promote their LTC products to NYL's producers.  In her training roles with NYL, MetLife, and John Hancock, Cindy has single-handedly developed product awareness throughout the Western US.  She has proved instrumental in assisting agents to secure closure on large cases and major clients in her area.  Such clientele have included Kaiser Permanente of Southern California and Colorado, The State of Alaska Retirees, Intel, Wynn Resort Las Vegas and various Catholic Dioceses around the country.  Throughout the development of her career, Cindy has been a welcome favorite for numerous speaking engagements.  She is a frequent speaker for both insurance industry and healthcare organizations up and down the West Coast including being the keynote speaker at NAIFA All Utah 2006.
 
"Why Long Term Care Insurance Must be Factored into Your Clients Retirement Model"
 
Today's clients need for long term care insurance (LTCi) planning is more appearent than ever.  Many of the baby-boomer generation are caring for their parents and at the same time looking at their prospects for retirement weighing whether or not they can afford both and maintain their working-years lifestyle.  Those of us working in the LTCi planning market already understand the emotional, physical and financial consequences of not planning, particularly if we've been in that very situation.  This presentation will elaborate on those challenges and how they factor in to both secotrs of a balanced retirement plan; the income portfolio and the investment portfolio.  LTCi planning is not about risk-only consequences but what really should be focused on: not the cost, but on the care-giver.  A real life example of this will be described.  With LTCi it's all about having a plan.  A point often misunderstood by clients is that nothing will pay for a long term care plan except assets and income otherwise allocated for retirement or LTCi.  You'll learn about a three-step process to incorporating LTC planning (not LTC insurance) into your client's larger retirement model, what will pay for it, and alternative ways to pay for it using LTCi products.
 

 
Mike Cogdall, CLU
Managing DI Regional VP, Principal Financial Group

Mike joined Principal Life Insurance Company in 1997 as the Disability Income Regional Vice President (DI RVP) covering the states of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah and Washington. As the top DI RVP in the program's 11-year history, Mike assumed the active role of Managing DI RVP in September 2008. Mike is an 11-time Principal Life Recognition Circle qualifier (formerly called MART).  His career path includes over 16 years in the insurance industry where he started with Provident Life and Accident Insurance Company as a Disability Consultant in Seattle, Washington. From 1987 to 1991, Mike moderated the LUTC disability sales course and spoke at industry functions about the disability insurance industry.  He transferred to Provident in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1992 to start a new branch office. In less than two years he doubled the disability sales production. While in Pittsburgh, he did extensive training seminars with agents to increase their understanding of the disability insurance sales process. In 1993, Mike transferred to Chicago, Illinois to further this goal.  In May 1995 he accepted the position of Western Regional Manager of Disability Sales for Illinois Mutual and moved to Boulder, Colorado. Mike was responsible for marketing disability products in 14 western states. He spoke at over 60 seminars a year focusing on various disability topics. Today, Mike is a member of the International DI Society.  Mike lives in Denver, Colorado with his wife and their daughter.

"Income Protection - Does Anybody Really Need It?"

With individual disability sales declining in recent years it appear that fewer people (families) need income protection, but that could not be farther from the truth. I will explore ways to reverse this trend and give a better understanding of why we need to continue to educate consumers on the need for income protection. In a time when economic uncertainty is everywhere and the term personal responsibility is being used by everyone the time to protect income is now.
